This client had an investment property on a huge block and saw opportunity to increase their rental income by building a granny flat on the block and renting that out too.
They decided that buying an extra investment property at their age wasn’t what the banks would necessarily approve of. They saw this as a way of increasing their income without needing to buy more land.
This is something we are seeing more and more. With the housing crisis it’s also something council is encouraging making it a great strategy to increase your rental income.
We managed the whole process for them. We built a new boundary fence between the primary and secondary dwelling and built they granny flat.
They ended up with a beautiful 80m2 granny flat with 2 bedrooms and 2 deck areas. They were then able to rent this out and to increase their return.
